Picture this: you live in a big city, concrete is everywhere, and there aren’t many green spaces. BUT there’s always a botanical garden to visit and enjoy. Actually, I love them!! It’s like a great relief for my senses, mostly when you can enjoy the smell of fresh cut grass. (yeah, this is a goofy picture.)
Let’s take a step forward and let’s imagine a botanical garden, a with smart water and solar collection systems, built from recycled containers.
Okay, that would be perfect.
There’s a project called Hubitus, that is going to be at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens and it’s about creating a zero-energy hub that is able to generate as much renewable energy as it uses, aided by intelligent water collection and solar energy systems. Also, it will be built entirely of recycled containers using green construction techniques. The hub also will have classrooms, open spaces, rooftop gardens, green walls and more because our community needs places to prove and demonstrate concepts in areas such as beekeeping, hydroponics and vertical gardening.
